Recipe for "Super Food Power Balls"
Updated: May 4

Power balls are a wonderful energy reach treat and great for days out or an afternoon "pick me up" at work. I really like to add some chewy texture and aminos by adding goji berries. Maca powder is a wonderful superfood for libido and adaptogen for stress but it does add a unique nutty caramel twang. Therefore, it is optional and probably best to stick to cocoa powder for the flavour if you are making these for children as well. I use raw honey, not set to create a good consistency.
250g pitted dates
250g of almonds, walnuts or cashew nuts.
50g goji berries
2-3 tablespoons organic cocoa powder
1 tablespoon maca powder (optional)
120 ml of raw honey, dark agave nectar, or date syrup.
Rice flour or coconut flour, desiccated coconut or Chia seeds for rolling.
Place all the ingredients in a food processor or power blender such as the Ninja and use the mix setting to blend the ingredients. You may need to open the lid of the processor and use a spoon to scrape the mixture from sticking to the sides and blend again to create an even texture. Dust your hands with rice or coconut flour and scoop a tablespoon size of the mixture and roll into a ball. You can either finish the ball by rolling in desiccated coconut or Chia seeds or leave it as it is. Repeat for all the mixture and place the balls in an airtight container in the fridge for a couple of hours. Keep refrigerated for up to a week.
Suitable for children but they do contain nuts.
